UPDATE: Min says Russia sets only commercial goals for Nord Stream-2
(Adds details in third paragraph)
MOSCOW, Jan 26 (PRIME) -- The construction of the Nord Stream-2 pipeline has only commercial purposes, and its critics are trying to complicate relations between Russia and the E.U., Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a press conference Tuesday.
“This is an economic, commercial project, it is undoubtedly beneficial for Germany and the entire Europe, beneficial for Russia,” Lavrov said.
The minister separately said that the transit route of Russian gas across Ukraine is unreliable.
In September 2015, Russian gas giant Gazprom signed a shareholder agreement on the 55-billion-cubic-meter Nord Stream-2 pipeline, which encompasses laying two more lines of the Nord Stream pipeline under the Baltic Sea to the shore of Germany.
